The Department of Development of Learning Resources (Visofted), created at the then “Félix Varela Morales” University of Pedagogical Sciences in the city of Santa Clara, was the genesis of the current Directorate of Educational Technolog of the “Marta Abreu” Central University ” by Las Villas.

It was officially founded in 1995 with the main objective of research in the area of Educational Computing, both in the development of multimedia educational applications, as well as their validation and introduction into school practice.

Its purpose is to: develop research, the production of resources for learning and the improvement of teachers in the area of Educational Technology and the virtualization of learning, as a means to enhance student learning and the permanent improvement of teachers.

It has highly trained specialists in the areas of pedagogy, programming, graphic interface design, WEB page design, digital editing, production of audiovisual materials, development of multimedia scripts, Distance Education and virtualization of learning.
